Travel Clinic

global air travel

Foreign travel has evolved over the last decade allowing travellers the opportunity to visit virtually anywhere on the planet!

Whilst booking your holiday you may have been given advice from your travel agent regarding travel vaccinations therefore we advise that you make an appointment with the Practice Nurse to discuss your travel needs.

A pre-travel health assessment will recommended travel vaccinations relating specifically to your travel destination/s and will also provide time to discuss the risk of diseases such as Yellow Fever, Rabies and Malaria and decide if additional vaccinations or medication should be considered. The Nurse can advise on food and water safety, bite avoidance, and sun exposure.

It is equally important for people travelling abroad for other reasons, on business or to work, to also attend the surgery to discuss their requirements.

Ideally, we would advise you book to see the Nurse at least 8 weeks before your departure date, or as soon as you book your holiday, although, we realise that with many "last minute deals" on offer this may not always be possible.

We would always recommend that it is better to be vaccinated, (even if it is only a short time before you travel), than not at all.

Travel Vaccinations

Trips to far away destinations are increasingly popular and the lower costs plus faster transport, makes it feasible for the many. The variety of different adventurous type trips are also on the increase. This is all good news, however, with such diversity, the risk of travel to your health is increased and this makes the appointment with the nurse more complex. Please print and complete the travel risk form and hand in at reception at least 6 weeks before departure.
